This is super traditional style Rioja. Matured in american and french oak for 24 months before some now 17 years in bottle, this little number shows it's bottle age with nuanced savoury and mellow fruit mingling with cigar box tobacco and a little vanilla.
It's very elegant and drinking absolutely wondefully right now, though it'll still keep going for years yet if you've the patience to lay it down even further.
You don't usually see wines with this much age in this price bracket, it's fantastic quality and we use it in our Rioja tastings. It's by no means a cheap wine, but this price is still super accessible and you're not going to be able to try a wine of this quality from 00's for cheaper.
