160km North of Cape town, the De Wet family are making beatiful wines with an oceanic influence.
Named after Danie de Wet`s wife, Lesca is a lightly oaked Chard absolutely brimming with energy and tension. Green apple and quince on the forefront with a complex streak of butterscotch and vanilla on the finish.
Oaky chardonnay's are so last decade, and badly done versions are gross, but sometimes a wine like this comes along and makes us realise why the trend originated in the first place! This has all the marks of a white Burgundy for twice the price.
