Peter Gierszewski is a first generation winemaker. Son to Polish immigrants, he grew up in southern Burgundy and stayed to make some bang on wines in a natural way, with all of the same Burgundian precision that you'd expect.
Chardonnay grapes are grown on hills of 400m ASL, seeing sun from 9am until sunset the juice is full of tropical fruits, but being restrained enough to feel steely and tense. vinification is in stainless steel only to maintain freshness, sitting on the dead yeast cells (lees) for a year to add a lovely mid weight texture.
This is rich and ripe, a little chalky, high acid but tempered by a lovely mouthfeel.
With Burgundy, I'm always shouting that the value is found from amazing winemakers in the lesser appreciated appellations. At £25 this is a giant killer, and you'd get a much worse quality juice if spending the same money on a bigger name appellation further up the road.
