Known locally as Breton, Cabernet Franc is the grape of Chinon in the Loire. A sunny but cool climate leads to red wines of incredible vibrance, with the classic note of green bell pepper and leafiness helping this.
The wines aren't always very well respected, but this is big boy Chinon - grown on old vines, the fruit produces a wine with an intense core of concentrated dark fruit. But it's surprisingly fresh and elegant, with plenty of savoury pepper and a subtle but vibrant leafiness.
This is Chinon that's uncharacteristically gonna reward you if you lay it down for good few years.
