This is Fiona Leroy's first vintage from her organic 2.7 hectare domaine in the tiny - and ecologically diverse - village of Dezize-Les-Maranges at the most southerly point of the Cote de Beaune in Burgundy.

Fiona has embraced the sentiment of her environment and carries out all viticultural practices organically and biodynamically- using infusions and decoctions rather than shelf bought heavy chemicals in the vines.

She does everything by hand, only using a small caterpillar tractor to plough the soil when needed.

In the winery, everything is traditional with no new oak used to ensure the terroir shines through, and sulphur is used sparingly, if at all, and the reds are not fined or filtered.

All this eco stuff means the wine is supple, light on it's feet and full of concentration. Violets, rose, strawberries and a darker cassis note come through on the nose and palate. Proper Burgundy from a boss female rising star.
