Judith Beck has taken charge of her family winery since 2001 and is doing some fantastic stuff with local grapes in Burgenland. All their bottlings are 'natural' in that wild yeasts are used for fermentation and pesticides and herbicides are banned in the vineyard, with only a guiding hand helping the wines along in the winery.
This is glou glou Blaufränkisch. Juicy, high acid and light - medium bodied with low levels of tannin mean you can chuck it back. But it shows classic typicity of the grape; the fruit flavours are decidedly more black fruited, blackberries and blackcurrant rather than strawberry and cherry you'd often imagine from a chuggable wine. Think of it as Beaujolais' dark Austrian cousin.
