Arneis is the local white grape of the Piemonte area in northern Italy, best known for Barolo and Barbaresco.
Val del Prete are a forward thinking, biodynamic practicing, family run winery producing wines that fantastically represent the quality of the area. Around the Cascina Val del Prete the grounds are less sandy than in the rest of the Roero, giving the wine produced here a distinctive structure.
The juice sees some skin contact for a few days before sitting on the lees for 3 months before being bottled.
This is floral and aromatic, there's a little tannin grip and some dried herbs coming from the skins, with a rich creaminess from the lees. This is definitely a fatter and richer style of Arneis.
